Many people have wondered whether or not they should do their own drywall repair. Seems easy enough. Right? Read what one of our customers has to say about the subject.
My wife and I purchased a new home recently and knew that there was work to be done, in order to make things the way we wanted them. One of the primary things needed, was drywall installation. Our new home had the old tiled ceilings and my wife hated them. Two of the bedrooms also had paneling on the walls. I knew that drywall would not only look better, but may provide better insulation too. I decided to hang the drywall myself. “How hard could it be?” I thought.
Needless to say, my DIY drywall installation quickly turned out to be a room in desperate need of drywall repair. Lumps, bumps and I’m not even sure what happened around the windows. The studs didnt seem to be where they should have been etc. etc. To be honest, it was pretty embarrassing. I knew better than to try the ceilings after that, so I started to search for drywall repair companies in my area. I found Mike Faircloth from Faircloth Drywall and Sheetrock Repair. I am from Burlington, NC and was pleased to learn that Mike serviced Burlington too.
He came out and looked at the house. I was surprised to learn that the ceiling tiles most likely contained asbestos and Mike discussed with me the best solutions for my problems. He was professional, courteous and friendly. I hired him to hang the drywall on my ceilings and after that, I will be paying for another job..Repairing the walls that I destroyed, by trying to do my own drywall. Every penny that I spent trying to save money by doing my own drywall, was wasted. I should have called Mike in the first place. The moral of the story? Doing your own drywall repair or installation may sound like a good idea at first, but unless you are a professional, you should save yourself time and money by calling someone who knows what they are doing.
